Ive wanted to do something like that for a while, like a nightmare dimension with unsettling sort of fleshy organic weird architecture, but with a few recognizable buildings here and there but decayed and twisted sort of like how silent hill does its dark "rusted metal" look, like 2 dimensions glitching each other out sort of thing

Not sure, maybe the player kills the big baddy gatekeeper of a dimension, and escapes to another, hoping to fight through them to eventually find a way back home.
Obviously with a lot more flavor text.

What about things like disabling jumping or crouching? and should all maps be balanced around pistol starts?

Yeah, sounds good! It's like taking "Hell on Earth" to the next level.
I guess we're showing the next step, when Hell has merged with the planet and the laws of the universe are confused. Things start acting out strangely. Not like Earth or Hell but something new and crazy.

So yes, I like this theme. If someone wants to make a map that feels "normal" they can do it, but we can also get weird with it. Nightmares/dreams are unpredictable.



I'd like to have jumping and crouching because I like using them for the level design as opposed to keeping them unnecessary.
With crouching you can make small spaces and with jumping you can have crazy platforming.

Don't worry. I am not using generators anymore for Community Project. This is one small map with purpose of being short Level 1. Made in Doom Builder and WadAuthor

Laki's map is using non-Doom stuff.
Laki we're not going to mash games anymore. Please recreate with Doom-only assets.

I would not mind using certain heretic or strife textures for castle themes.

Its not bad, a bit square and your doorways and alcoves need unpegging. it might be a bit too short for a 10 map episode though, if it was a full megawad i would say sure
