DOUBLE GZDOOM VERSIONS

What's the point of releasing two at once?

I guess the old 1.x versions use the old GZDoom render, while the 2.x versions use a new render or something. I know that on my laptop, the 2.x versions don't work but maybe they do on my PC, haven't tried. It has high requirements but I think the codebase is the same between the 2 versions, other than that I don't know much because I don't use GZDoom except for wads that require it.
