 Post subject: No water possible :( RANT!!!

Good water is not possible in Doom3's version of Tech4 :'(
I have spent the last 3 days studying different water examples in Doom3 and merging their codes and.... in the end, it seems it is simply impossible to have water at all.

You can make water that seems real at first, with waviness and all, but it will reflect nothing, just a fancy trick to make it look like it's reflecting the sky :?

Then you can have reflective water, but it ONLY works if the water is always below the player's feet, otherwise the reflection completely glitches :grumpy:

Also, you can have a simple wavy shader to fake a liquid being there, but it will have no reflection or color

Lastly, you can have a wavy shader with a tint of blue or any color, and that seems okay :|

I am just really upset, I want to make a map with water, and I need the water to not look so crappy :bang:

Doom 3 was meant on Mars. Probably water can't be done just for that. :lol:

They had water mechanics and they removed them for the final release :(

There would actually water indoors in some places, because the people still drink water and shower and such, so it would've been cool if they had a whole facility dedicated to creating or storing water, as well as filtering it.
This is one of the cool things that they took out :|

There is a mod that re-implements some remnant water physics that were left in the code, so we know water was originally planned, but it doesn't do anything visually and also it doesn't work with the Sikkmod which I'm using for soft shadows :?

It's okay though, I'll try avoiding the use of water in the meantime.
